The Gateway Arch

in Museum, Historic, Museum, State Park, Nat'l Historic Landmark

Celebrating 50 years, the Gateway Arch is the most recognizable landmark in St. Louis. The Gateway Arch reflects St. Louis' role in the Westward Expansion of the US during the 19th Century. The park is a memorial to Thomas Jefferson's role in opening the West, to the pioneers who helped shape its history, and to Dred Scott who sued for his freedom in the Old Courthouse. Artifacts and objects from its old museum are currently on display at the Old Courthouse, located at 11 North Fourth Street.
